Teaching Body Parts and Telling Stories in PAUD Cilandak Timur

WargaMengajar10“Dua mata saya… Hidung saya satu… Dua kaki saya, pakai sepatu baru…” (“I have two eyes… one nose… two feet wearing new shoes”) a song written by Pak Kasur was sung by students of Sanggar Fortune Nursery School (PAUD) on Gang Damai Cilandak Timur with some Fortuners, Tri Budhi Santoso and Septian Rio Renaldo. While singing, the students were asked to touch their body parts in accordance with the lyrics of the song.

“Now without the song, where is your nose?” asked Tri, who is a Social Media Strategist of DID Fortune Indonesia, to the students.

Students quickly answered the question by touching the body part Tri was asking. Some students answered correctly, but some others gave wrong answer. Then, Tri repeated the song while pointing to the appropriate body part.

After singing together, the learning about body parts was followed by assembling and sticking picture pieces to form the body of a boy on a white cardboard. Firstly, Rio introduced the picture pieces one by one. Next, he started the sticking activity. “We’ll start from the face ok, raise your hand if you want to stick the face!” said Rio, a Strategic Planner of DID Fortune Indonesia.

Zami, Faza, and Fibad rushed to raise their hands to stick the picture piece. Rio then directed the three of them to stick it. Other students also took turn to stick the pieces to complete the picture. Applause was given to all students who successfully sticked the pieces.

Still surrounded by the students, Tri and Rio then told a story. They read a story about the race between a tortoise and a mouse deer. The tale started when the deer challenged the tortoise to run a race. The deer felt confident to win because the tortoise was a very slow runner.

Tri who acted as the deer pretended to sleep while waiting for Rio who acted as the tortoise. “Oh, the teachers are gone?” remarked Ochi, one of the nursery students. Other students laughed at his remark. Then the students and Rio ran after Tri. The tale was closed by showing the picture of the deer and the tortoise while giving questions to the students. “Who won the race?” asked Rio. The students pointed to the picture of the tortoise on the white cardboard.

One hour had passed and the learning while playing activity was closed by saying hamdalah (gratitude to God). Each student went home taking the picture of body parts to play at home.

As is known, the program “Warga Mengajar” is an activity that engages Fortuners in the CSR program of PT Fortune Indonesia Tbk in which Fortuners teach for two hours in the nursery schools fostered by Sanggar Fortune. They teach thematic lesson that has been prepared.
