Ramadan: FORU Style

Berut1fotoRamadhan had begun, Fortuners welcomed the holy month gratefully. Various activities were held again in celebration of the fasting month as in previous years such as sharing takjil (breaking of the fast dishes) for Fortuners since the beginning of the fasting month. Fortuners could take takjil since 16:30 pm. Takjil menu varied each day, ranging from kolak (banana and/or yam cooked with coconut milk), drinks like es cendol, es buah, es campur, hot tea, and snacks like cakwelontong, and others.

“The management team took turns in planning the menu every day,” said Undagi Rusdhy as GA Manager of Fortune Indonesia.

The management team has set the takjil share since eight years ago. This year, 170 bowls of takjil were prepared every day. Usually the takjil was distributed to Fortuners in less than an hour. Undagi said the takjil has resulted from voluntary contributions of Fortuners organized by the management team. Undagi said this takjil is from and for Fortuners.

The existence of takjil was responded positively by Fortuners. Some Fortuners believed that takjil is not only for quenching thirst after a day of fasting, but also for delaying hunger. “So we don’t need to bother thinking about iftar. It made us hold until dinner,” said Diah Andrini Dewi as Human Capital Development Officer of Fortune PR.

Berut2fotoFortuners’ togetherness in the fasting month did not stop until the sharing of takjil. Fortuners could also strengthen the relationship in pengajian (communal Quran reading) and listening to speeches from ustaz. These pengajian activities were held twice on Thursday and once before Fortuners had their fast-breaking dinner together on July 18, 2014. The speech was given by different ustaz and with different themes.

“The speech delivered on Thursday began with communal midday prayer and then followed by listening to speech from ustaz. The third speech will be delivered before having fast-breaking dinner together,” said Gita Galantari as FORU Corporate Communication Specialist.

The pengajian was informed to all Fortuners through email, announcement television, and word of mouth invitation. Gita said the word of mouth invitation is more effective to inform about the pengajian. She was thankful that the participants of pengajian in Ramadan month increased by 50% compared to those in monthly pengajian.

“In the future, the activity will probably be held every week as many people ask for it,” she explained.

Berut3fotoFortuners gave positive response on the pengajian that lasted about 30-45 minutes. Many Fortuners came to listen to ustaz’s speech. The topics of the speech were about everyday life, including the good deed that can be done during the fasting month while working in the office. There were no Fortuners who seemed sleepy or bored while following pengajian. Besides listening well, Fortuners sometimes asked questions to the ustaz who gave the speech.

Fortuners’ togetherness was felt again in the fast-breaking dinner on Friday, July 18, 2014. Fortuners gathered at 5 pm on the 4th floor of Gedung Galaktika. The activity was opened with a recitation of Qur’an and continued with the speech about Lailatul Qadr delivered by Ustaz Muchlis Imam Nurdin.

The ustaz familiarly called Ustaz Didin explained not only the signs of the presence of Lailatul Qadr, but also the glory human will gain in Lailatul Qadr. Fortuners seemed to seriously listen to the speech. Occasionally, Fortuners laughed when Ustaz Didin made jokes in his speech. At the end of his speech, Ustaz Didin gave messages for Fortuners.

“In the month of Ramadan, the glory of our worship is in heartening the orphans, the poor, parents and teachers,” he said.

Afterwards, Fortuners had iftar with fresh drinks such as hot tea, es kelapa muda, and es cendol. There are also foods such as meatballs, nasi begana, and roasted rice.
