Fortune Group's Support for Cancer Patients in Indonesia
Indonesia is one of the countries with a considerable number of cancer prevalence. Based on the Basic Health Research in 2013, the prevalence of cancer in Indonesia reached 1.4 percent. The high prevalence of cancer in Indonesia certainly needs to be addressed with precautions and early detection. Meanwhile, according to the routine data of Sub Directorate of Cancer Control, Directorate of Non-Communicable Diseases, Directorate General of Disease Control and Environmental Health, Ministry of Health of The Republic of Indonesia, up until 2013, only a few numbers or 7.6% of community health centers (Puskesmas) have the early detection program.
Recognizing the importance of cancer prevention, Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI) as one of the non-profit organizations aims at striving to prevent cancer by conducting promotive, preventive, and supportive activities. Currently, there are about 1000 patients from pre-prosperous families who are assisted by YKI. The cost of each patient’s care reaches approximately Rp60.000.000 to Rp70.000.000. So, the donation from donors means a great help for the healing of these patients.
As a form of corporate social responsibility in the health sector, in March 2018 Fortune Group made a donation of Rp25.000.000.000 to the Indonesian Cancer Foundation. Hopefully, the contribution provided by Fortune Group will benefit both the preventive process and the recovery process of the cancer patients in Indonesia.
