Students of Semarang University are Encouraged to Work in Advertising Industry

km mar3“Welcome to Fortune Indonesia, students of Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology,” greeted Fenty Effendy as the MC of the student visit of Semarang University to Fortune Indonesia on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Approximately 30 students accompanied by two lecturers and a Campus Dean replied the greeting. Afterwards, Hany Nurahmawati as Marketing Communications Manager of Fortune Indonesia explained about the history and the company profile of Fortune Indonesia to the students.

Hany also explained briefly about the dynamics of the advertising industry in Indonesia. Advertising in Indonesia continues to conform to government regulations such as the advertisement ethics (Etika Pariwara). Fortune Indonesia has also work based on the effective Advertisement Ethics. “Usually P3I (Persatuan Perusahaan Periklanan), an association of advertising companies, will reprimand companies if they violate the advertisement ethics. Fortune has never been reprimanded,” said Hany.

The introduction to the advertising industry was then continued by the second speaker, Rashid Najib as Creative Group Head of Fortune Indonesia. Najib explained about Ten Things a Good Ad Does. The second topic from the speaker then invited a lot of questions from students about the ad-creation process to creativity in ad creation.

“Think out of the box. Cool ideas can emerge if we think that way,” said Najib Rashid to answer the questions from students about creative thinking in the ad-creation process.

Then, the MC hosted a quiz. The students who could answer the questions from the MC got tumblers. The meeting in Agus Salim room was closed by handing over the book Hajar! from Fortune Indonesia to the second Dean of Information and Communication Technology Faculty of Semarang University, Choirul Latif. To express the gratitude, Semarang University presented a certificate of appreciation to Hany Nurahmawati of Fortune Indonesia.

“We are very impressed with Fortune’s reception. We didn’t expect that our students would be given very useful knowledge and information. Our students were also given an overview of working in the advertising world. We thank you and we are sure that our students are encouraged to work in advertising,” said Choirul Latif.
