Social Media in Indonesia

Indonesian social media analysis, SalingSilang, released a report on Indonesia’s social media landscape.
Twitter
86.9% of tweets are sent via mobile phones, with 12% of them are published from websites. Blackberry has become the dominant handset for Twitter users since it features UberSocial (a popular Twitter app) and official BlackBerry Twitter app for Twitter users.
It is estimated that producing 15% of the tweets has made Indonesia the third largest active Twitter user in the world. The estimation also shows that there are 3.8 million monthly active users in Indonesia who post 53,880 tweets per hour.
In Indonesia, Twitter users are more likely to be active during weekends, in the morning and evening and Jakarta even has the most Twitter Users (13.3% of activity).
With nearly 40 million users, Indonesia has become the second largest Facebook user after the USA. It also reflects Indonesia’s blogosphere and indicates that Google Plus will thrive in this country.
