Commemorating the National Children's Day, FORU and KITA Bercerita Hold Negeri Cerita
FORU and Keluarga Indonesia Teman Anak Bercerita (KITA Bercerita) held Negeri Cerita (the Land of Stories) at Pejaten Village, South Jakarta on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Negeri Cerita is the peak of the event of all campaigns that KITA Bercerita has conducted since 2016 to promote the culture of storytelling. The mission of KITA Bercerita is to raise the national awareness of Indonesian families to tell stories to children at an early age of 3-6 years for at least 10 minutes a day.
Negeri Cerita was held to celebrate the National Children’s Day 2017 in order to make room for Indonesian families to interact and communicate through stories and music for children. Negeri Cerita spoiled the children with various tales and stories that were delivered throughout the event. With face painting, the attending children were directly involved to take part in Negeri Cerita. They could use their imagination to play the role of their own character. The event Negeri Cerita was also enlivened by some entertainment for children, such as magic shows and musical performances.
At this moment, KITA Bercerita also donated more than a thousand books to be distributed to Eastern Indonesia through Taman Bacaan Pelangi. The book donations were collected from all employees of Rajawali Group and partners. The donation is presented by the representative of each business unit of Rajawali Group. Also attending was Indira Abidin to represent FORU in this event.
“We are targeting Eastern Indonesia in order to achieve the noble ideals of the nation; toward free-from-illiteracy Indonesia in all corners of the country. By providing access to quality books for children living in the remote areas of eastern Indonesia, we hope to contribute to growing interest in reading and opening up their horizons,” said Agung Binantoro, Rajawali Foundation Director and supervisor of KITA Bercerita, on Saturday (29/7).
Since 2016, KITA Bercerita has been actively called for a ten-minute storytelling to Indonesian family through various activities including campaigns on social media. During that time, KITA Bercerita has managed to tell stories to more than 600 children, distribute 1,700 finger puppets as storytelling tools made by PAUD teachers as part of women’s empowerment program, share 466 campaign contents with the hashtag #10menitBercerita on Instagram, distribute 1,532 storybooks, upload 74 pages of stories, and inaugurate 5 Rumah Cerita (Master School in Depok, Elsafan Foundation, Sanggar FORTUNE Cilandak, TTKA Ceria of State University of Jakarta and Yayasan Sayap Ibu Jakarta).
“We hope KITA Bercerita activities can engage other parties who have the same mission in promoting the culture of storytelling to children, especially at the family level,” said Gita Galantari, Marketing & Corporate Communication Manager as well as the pioneer of KITA Bercerita.
