Our Red and White Flag
In the spirit of the independence of Indonesia, Warga Mengajar on Wednesday, August 26, 2016 took the theme of “Celebrating Indonesian Independence” in order to promote love for the country in the children of Sanggar Fortune 4, Cilandak. They sounded very excited to sing independence songs although they were not fluent in pronunciation and had not fully memorized the lyrics. Aldhy Hidayat, Media Planner, who guided the learning activities, introduced the children to the emblems of Pancasila and the red and white flag as the symbol of the country.
“I’m done!” shouted one of the boys in the PAUD, holding a crayon. Red strokes were seen all over the paper given by the teachers. “Hey, why did you color everything? It’s not a red and white flag, then!” said a mother that instantly made other parents and teachers laugh.
With Aldhy’s help, the children under 4 years old were trying to make the red and white flag with paper and crayons. “My hands become red, look!” said Tegar, one of PAUD students. The children were busy looking at the paper and their fingers which were covered in red. Then Aldhy asked the children to talk about their fun experience in the race on August 17. “It is actually not easy to handle kids; it needs a lot of patience. However, playing with kids was so fun that I forgot the time,” said Aldhy.
