Foto-5-600-300x200Sanggar Fortune Nursery School held a jamboree for the first time this year on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 on the Campgrounds Ragunan Jakarta. Three nursery schools fostered by FORU participated in the event to celebrate the Independence Day of Indonesia.

At 09:30 the event began with the welcome speech from Indira Abidin as the Corporate Secretary. Indira said this positive event was expected to provide the nursery students with an understanding of Indonesian independence. “It’s a great event. It should be held continually. Such event can teach children about many things. It’ll encourage them,” said Indira Abidin.

Then Indira and the nursery students sang Indonesia Raya together. After the singing, Rosalina Sinaga, the supervisor of Bintang Nursery School, recited a poem with the theme of Indonesian struggle for independence.

Then they held some competitions for the students, such as putting flags into a bottle, putting a needle into a bottle, and spoon and marble race. The race categories were based on age. There were 41 students from the three nursery schools that participated in the race. Laughter and tears appeared on the faces of students who joined the race. Some were laughing to get the victory, and some were crying because they were left far behind in the race.

The teachers prepared the race for three days. It included preparing the race concept and   preparing the equipment for the race. The race was guided by four teachers with different tasks. Some teachers served as the juries of the race, some helped the students with the racing equipment, and some others oversee the race.

The encouraging cheers from the parents who took the participants to the race were often heard. Oftentimes parents chuckled when seeing their children went off the arena. After two hours, the names of the winners were announced one by one. The winners received prizes such as drinking bottles, lunch boxes, and stationeries.

“Nursery children should learn how to be independent. This event was held in order to train their independence and boost their spirit. So they could strive and be optimistic like a hero so that children become more independent and strong. Hopefully they would own the spirit of a hero,” Rosalina said during the race.
