Kickoff, FORU’s routine event to pump up all Fortuners’ spirit at the beginning of the year, was held again on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Taking place at Omah Pawon located in Ampera area, this annual event was attended by dozens of Fortuners from various teams that are divided into several groups.

This year, Kickoff was carrying the spirit of “Go the Extra Mile” which means ‘run ‘ farther, try harder, work maximally in achieving corporate targets that have been agreed. Create ideas beyond what we have ever imagined. Apply the technology surpassing any possible limits. Exceed the expectations of entrepreneurial business.

In her speech at Kickoff opening, Indra Abidin, Director of FORU, said that the year 2014 should be a moment for FORU to leap and catch up. This year is an opportunity for FORU to make a new breakthrough and seize growth. “From now on, let us all be determined that we must be able to create original, relevant, and high-impact ideas. The ideas are the superior ones escorted by FORU’s warriors with global caliber so as to seize the trust and respect of even the most difficult international clients,” said Indra firing them up.

Starting at ten o’clock in the morning, Kickoff was opened by exercising together and continued with a symbolic release of pigeons by Indra, Muljadi Sulaeman (FORU Director), Ati Muchtar (Managing Director of Fortune PR), and also Miranty Abidin and Kasman Ardan as FORU Commissioner who attended the event that day. Next, the event was continued with a variety of exciting outdoor olympic games called Fortunelympic.

The game was started with briefs marathon that invited laughter called Kolor (briefs) Triathlon and followed by a contest to make a creative and funny one-minute video themed “Go The Extra Mile” in only an hour, and also a teamwork competition in connecting Pingpong Pipe game.

Moreover, all Kickoff participants were challenged to show their ability in negotiation and business development by racing to collect as many business cards as possible belonging to the people around the location. Not only that, the committee also tested the participants’ ability in budget management by giving them a challenge to spend the funds provided by the committee as efficiently as possible.

All activities were closed by an agility game of crossing the pool. Although they had to be soaked through when splashed into the pool, this game managed to grab the attention of all the participants and made the event even merrier! How couldn’t it be attractive! One person from each team had to successfully cross the pool from one side to the other side by walking on two stems of bamboo. They should hold on only to a rope that was pulled by their teammates. Throbing, exciting, but also hillarious!

One of the participants who successfully got through this challenge was Ratri Nur Wulandari (PR Consultant) from a Kickoff team called Dewi Athena (the goddess Athena). In her first try, Wulan, her nickname, successfully crossed the pool without falling into the pool!” “Once I knew about this challenge, I got curious immediately and couldn’t wait to try! It was really exciting because it not only tested our abilities but also practiced our collaboration with our teammates,” said the yoga exercise enthusiast happily. “In the future, hopefully more Fortuners would join Kickoff so it would be a group holiday of all Fortuners,” she said.

The committee also expressed their enthusiasm. The committee stated the concept of this event is to emphasize the collaboration aspect besides introducing the message “Go the Extra Mile” to all participants. The challenge was the lack of preparation time so that most of the committee must make good use of the chatting facility to coordinate. “Hopefully, the next Kickoff can be participated by more people so that our mission to deliver the corporate message to all the Fortuners can be maximally accomplished,” said Wardiah Fitriany, one of the committee members.

Closing the Kickoff event, Aris Boediharjo as CEO of Fortune Indonesia said that Kickoff is an opportunity to hit the ‘drums of war’. “This year, with the theme Go the Extra Mile, we must work harder and work smarter. We’ve got a big challenge because the corporate targets have not been maximally achieved in the last two years. So, we should never retreat before we get victory. Hajar!” said Aris.
