Ahmad Badawi, familiarly called Badawi, is one of the Office Boys in Fortune Indonesia. The way he looks and works is very simple, without much ado or fuss. His life motto is to always give the best, and always keep the trust he has earned. In Kick Off event, Badawi was awarded The Most Favorite Office Boy, 2017. What is the story of Badawi’s life? How did you start working at Fortune Indonesia?
I worked for the first time in 2011 at Access Indo Foundation in the housekeeping department. But I worked there only for eight months. In the beginning of 2012, I joined Fortune Indonesia. When the office of Fortune PR was once moved to Jl. Jabir, I was asked to move there. But my superior at that time told me to stay with Fortune Indonesia. And I work here until now.
What do you enjoy the most in your work today?
I enjoy working in Fortune Indonesia because it is close to my house, hehe. I live in Ciganjur. Moreover, most of Fortuners are kind. So, yes I feel quite comfortable working here.
What do you have to say about being The Most Favorite Person representing the Office Boy in Kick Off 2017?
I was really surprised. I was in the pantry at that time, and then someone called me. I didn’t expect much, but it turned out that I got some fortune, Hehe. Alhamdulillah, I got a shopping voucher of Rp 200,000. I spent it for shopping for my household items on weekend. I wanted my family to also feel the joy. Thanks a lot to all Fortuners.
What challenges often come up in your current job?
The challenge as an Office Boy is when I have to fulfill several calls from Fortuners at the same time, hehe.. especially to have some documents bound. Some Fortuners always ask me to bind documents. Maybe they have been used to my service and they trust me. I am grateful and happy with my current job. Besides that, another challenge is the environment or the coworkers who sometimes feel jealous. At times it is a bit challenging for me.
This year Fortune carries the theme of Strike Back, is there any strike-back you want to do?
I actually do not have any specific target. But when asked about my strike-back this year, I hope to have a better working field. Now I practically work as a subordinate. Bismillah, hopefully, I will be better next time.
Have you ever used your income to give presents for your family or your wife?
I have never given a present to my wife, because I’m not married yet, hehe. I am the second of three children. My older brother has a child, and my sister got married before me and she even has had two children.At my age of 25, I frequently and routinely give presents for my parents’ birthday. It’s sometimes just a simple gift or just a cake. But it shows my affection for them. Recently they ask me to get married. Maybe having a family (marriage) is a gift that a child can give to their parents. But personally for this year, I am financially not ready. But inshallah the candidate already exists. Hehe.
What is your impression of the working environment at Fortune?
Working here for five years makes Fortune Indonesia feel like my own family.
What’s the most interesting experience while working at Fortune?
So in 2014, my colleague and I have ever filed our resignation be
cause my friend and I, on the day shift, felt to continuously be underestimated or blamed. I felt terrible and decided to resign. But after three days, my superior contacted me and asked me to return. Since the reason I resigned is not because I had another job, so I finally worked here again.
Is there any other line of work you want to do as a side job?
I actually have no flair for entrepreneurship. But since before I was born, my father had already opened a business of ornamental fish. My father looks after everything from eggs to baby fish. Unfortunately, until now my father could not open a store in a strategic location. He still opens the business at home. Inshallah, when I had good fortune, I will develop the business.
The principle in life that you use to be the best for your job and family?
For me, the trust others have in us is priceless. So we must always protect it from being lost or even broken.
What expectations and suggestions do you want to tell Fortune?
I wish all my OB friends and I could work better so that Fortune and all Fortuners will also treat us better.

Your current hobby?
I love playing futsal. I usually play futsal with my old school friends and my friends in the neighborhood. We sometimes play at a futsal court, sometimes also at a field. I play mainly in the back, called Last Man or Defender. I like it so much that for some time before I worked, my friend and I often joined futsal competitions until we got to the final round in Bogor. Though we never became the champion, we oftentimes got to top 8.
