After completing and piloting the parenting kit, now Sanggar Fortune and Komunitas Rumah Pencerah are busy applying the parenting kit through some training for parents. This month, Sanggar Fortune and Komunitas Rumah Pencerah held some training for parents in Kohod, Tangerang. Different from previous training, the speakers of the training were not the writers of the parent enrichment module but the parents who have attended previous training. It is intended to test the parenting kit and tools in facilitating anyone to deliver the material in the parent enrichment module.
This training thoroughly discussed six chapters in the parent enrichment module in three sessions, each of which discussed two chapters of the module. There were approximately one hundred participants who attended the training from three different PAUDs namely PAUD Faturrahman, PAUD Cahaya Anak Bangsa, and PAUD Cahaya Hati. All three PAUDs are located in a quite remote area in Kohod Tangerang.
“This training is intended to provide guidance for parents to educate their children well and properly. In big cities, parents have generally learned about good parenting skills, while in such remote areas the parents’ roles and knowledge of parenting still need to be maximized,” said Octaviniant Aspary, CSR Freelancer Fortune Indonesia. “Some of the participants of this training cannot even read or write, so facilitators need to perform extra roles to keep assisting and ensuring that all parents can absorb the material presented,” she added.
