Celebrating Eid al-Adha, FORU Donated Six Animals to Sacrifice
Teaching nursery students to have the spirit to sacrifice through the story of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail
The religious moment, Festival of Sacrifice, is a way to embrace the spirit of sharing of Muslims around the world. The one portrait of Muslims’ spiritual peak to the Almighty was also commemorated by FORU. This year, it fell on October 15, 2013 and FORU celebrated the moment, which refers to the story and example of the Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail, by donating animals to sacrifice.
As in previous years, the special tradition prior to Eid al-Adha was done again by drawing lots to determine Fortuners who will become the Shohibul Qurban that is the contributors of the sacrificed animals representing the company. This year, there was a total of six goats donated by FORU to a number of foundations.
From the lots drawn by the Corporate Communications and General Affairs team on October 11, 2013, six names were selected to be Shohibul Qurban this year. They were Arif Jalaluddin (Senior Account Executive of Pegasus team), Aryo Dwi Priyanto (Art Director of Anyway team), Ari Asngari (Art Director of Pegasus team), Mochamad Kurniawan (Graphic Designer of Activator team), Dewi Indrawati (Management Information System Manager of Fortune Indonesia), and Luddy Gilang Prayogi (Digital Art Director of DId).
Three goats were distributed to foundations around Gedung Galaktika, namely Mushola Al-Mukhsinin in RT 04 RW 07 Ragunan, Mushola Nur-Rahman on Jl.Jabir RT 005 RW 07, and Yayasan Darul Rahmah located on Jl. Sinen. Meanwhile, the other three goats were slaughtered and distributed to Fortuners as well as to the neighbors around FORU office. What made it special was that this year the three animals were slaughtered by Fortuners.
After the Eid prayer, Fortuners who were mostly from the support team gathered in the office to slaughter the sacrificed animals. The slaughtering process was conducted by Sukarno from Driver team. Compared to previous years, the slaughtering activity provided different nuance of sacrifice.
“Usually , FORU always invited people from around the office to do the slaughtering. Yet this year, the sacrificed animals were slaughtered by Fortuners. I just found out that there are Fortuners who are skilled in slaughtering sacrificed animals. The slaughter cannot be done unskillfully, but it has to be done in accordance with Islamic terms,” said Undagi Rusdy, General Affairs Manager of FORU.
Undagi hoped that in the future FORU can increase the practice of worship by adding the number of sacrificed animals for the donation. Undagi also hoped that this activity may strengthen the bond and the unity of Fortuners. “It is a good opportunity to share with Fortuners and the people around the office so that we all have a better relationship. Hopefully, things that foster virtue can be maintained so that it will spread solidness and goodness to others,” said Undagi.
Mochamad Kurniawan, one of this year FORU Shohibul Qurban, also expressed similar enthusiasm. “Alhamdulillah, I’m glad to be elected as Shohibul Qurban. Giving sacrifice is a duty of Muslims who can afford it. It happened that this year I did not get a chance to provide a sacrifice on my own. So, I feel truly happy. Although I failed to come to the office and slaughtered the sacrificed animals after the Eid prayer, I am still deeply grateful,” said Wawan, his nickname.
In addition to slaughtering sacrificed animals, FORU, partnered with Dompet Dhuafa (an alms foundation), also helped share the spirit of sacrifice through telling story of the prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail. Taking place in Agus Salim room, Gedung Galaktika on October 12, 2013 , the event was attended by more than sixty students of Nursery schools from Ragunan and Lenteng Agung, Miranty Abidin, the Commissioner of FORU, and Parni Hadi, the founder of Dompet Dhuafa.
“Through this event, we try to introduce Eid al-Adha to children as well as teaching them about the importance of sacrifice and compassion for others. Hopefully this event can foster sincerety in children since an early age, also instill the desire to help and the love of God,” said Miranty Abidin, FORU Commissioner.
