Blood for Love Swarmed with Fortuners and NonFortuners
Celebrating Valentine, Plan B Organized Blood Donation
Love is not merely about dating someone or failing to move on with your ex-lover. Therefore, there are many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day known as a day to share love. One of them was conducted by the Fortune Group brand team, Plan B. Taking place at Fortune office on Jabir St., Plan B organized a blood donation event titled Blood for Love on Thursday, February 14, 2013.
As in previous years, the blood donation event was open to Fortuners (employees of Fortune Group) and nonFortuners alias the local residents. Publication was even spread to offices on Jabir St., such as the Religious Court, Gerindra office, and the Ministry of Agriculture. “This event was deliberately designed in order that anyone i.e. Fortuners, local residents, and other office employees can share with others through blood donation. People may not have money, but everyone must have blood, “said the chairman of Blood for Love Indah May Harsutanty, Business Support Officer (BSO) of Plan B.
Even though it was conducted for the third time, the annual event that took place at 11.00 to 15.00 pm WIB was still flooded with enthusiasm. No wonder, the donors were booming. Of 78 applicants, the total participants who were successful to donate blood were 60 people. Actually, the number of registered participants has reached a hundred. But, since the Red Cross (PMI) only allocated 2 hours for the time of registration, those coming after the allotted time were forced to look down in the mouth. “It is the PMI’s rule, since the number of personnel is limited. We are sorry for the participants who failed to donate blood yesterday, “said Indah.
One of the participants who failed to donate the blood, Zita Reynita Sari from Ftech team, was struggling to express her disappointment. Coming at the site at 13:00 pm, Zita did not get the chance to donate. “I was so ready to donate my blood. I had no idea that there was time limit. If only I knew it, I would come earlier. Hopefully next time I can participate in this blood donation event again, “said Zita.
Luckily, there was entertainment for those who failed to participate. Different from previous years, this time Plan B also held a garage sale, traditional snack bazaar, acoustic performances, and the gallery of Fortuners’ works. But, there is one thing that does not change from the event: it is always eagerly awaited by Fortuners and non Fortuners! Ovan Hendrajad was one of them. This ex-Fortuner was even still spared his time to participate in the Blood for Love. “The event is getting better from year to year. Besides to jazz up the event, I haven’t donated my blood for long. Hopefully this little favour could be useful for other people, “ Ovan explained.
From different office, Notario Erlangga Putra also donated blood on the occasion. “It was a coincidence that Fortune held the blood donation. It’s been a long time that I want to donate my blood, but it was always delayed because of the distant location. While it is here, I did not think twice, I registered right away, “said the employee of Bank BRI, happily.
Regarding the event, Managing Director of Plan B Charlie Aziz explained that the blood donation event was originally held to welcome the anniversary of Plan B as well as implementing its CSR program. After seeing the great enthusiasm, the event is held every year. Charlie also agrees that the blood donation organized by Plan B is the belle of the local community. “Stepping into the third year, local residents are already ‘familiar’ with and even remember the blood donor program conducted by Plan B. They just wait for us to announce the exact date, “said Charlie.
In fact, there are Fortuners who never missed to join the blood donation program since the inaugural event. “It is great to see their enthusiasm. The neighborhood leader is also very supportive. Hopefully this program is useful for all, can be regularly held, and has a better improvement. I believe a good company will definitely share benevolence, and goodwill returns to the company, “said Charlie.
The blood donation program held by Plan B on February 14 was a success. The event with the theme Blood for Love managed to make 60 people donate their blood out of 78 people who registered. The rest did not donate their blood because they were not eligible to be a donor. The event started at 10 AM until about 1:30 PM. Plan B invited people of RT 4 and RT, RW 7 on Jabir St. In addition, the publication was also addressed to offices around Plan B such as the Religious Court, Gerindra, and the Ministry of Agriculture. “Because this event is open for everyone, local residents and people from other offices may join,” said the event chairperson, Indah May Harsutanty, BSO Plan B.
Actually, the number of donors was about 100 people. However, the time of registration allotted by PMI was only 2 hours from 11 AM. Hence, the donors who came after 1 PM could not donate their blood because of the limited number of personnel.
Besides holding blood donation program, Blood for Love this year also brought additional events. “The event was open for anyone. It was not only blood donor program. There were also a garage sale, traditional snacks, and live acoustic from eleven o’clock to half past twelve. The garage sale and photo exhibition were prepared by employees and ex Plan B,” explained Indah. The sound of acoustic music became a special entertainment for the donor candidates who failed to donate their blood. Indah added, the additional events were intended for Plan B to be able to give the best every year.
Donors who successfully donated their blood said they were happy to donate their blood. “Good program, I join the program because I have not donated my blood for a long time, and I want to enliven this event, I want to be helpful as well,” said Ovan Hendrajad, Ex Plan B who participated as a donor. “It did not hurt much, just like a pinch,” added Ovan. Ovan hoped this blood donation program could be continuously held and would invite lots of people to donate their blood.
Managing Director of Plan B, Charlie Aziz explained, the blood donation program was one of Plan B’s CSR. Charlie said that compared to the previous year’s Blood for Love, this year’s showed betterment. “The difference from the previous one is that the process is much faster because it is the third time, so people already know that every February there must be a blood donation event, only the date is different,” said Charlie. According to Charlie, the number of participants also experienced an increase. “The attendees are more. This is open for anybody from anywhere to join, such as local residents and other surrounding offices. We hold it annually as a CSR in cooperation with PMI. ”
Moreover, there is an interesting story from Charlie about an enthusiastic blood donor. “The local residents are pleased with the event. There was even a lady who had come for three times to donate her blood. The lady always joined the blood donation program held by Plan B. She was very enthusiastic, “Charlie said with a laugh. “Because the neighborhood leader is also supportive, hopefully this event may be useful for all, can be held regularly and will have better improvement,” Charlie wished.
Charlie also explained, the blood donation program was originally held to welcome Plan B’s anniversary. After considering the great enthusiasm, the activity is then held each year. The event was also attended by the Director of PT Fortune Indonesia Tbk, Indra Abidin. Charlie is satisfied with the Blood for Love event this year. “This event is one of the CSR. I believe that a good company will definitely share benevolence, and goodwill always returns to the company.”closed Charlie.
