FORU Performed Qurban with Sanggar Fortune Cilandak and the Neighboring Community

Kurban10Eid-ul-Adha 2014 was celebrated with great joy by Sanggar Fortune in Cilandak Timur, Jakarta, on Monday, October 6, 2014. The children were taught about the importance of Qurban as a form of obedience to God Almighty. They were given the opportunity to feed and watch the slaughter of the goats dedicated by PT Fortune Indonesia Tbk (FORU) through Sanggar Fortune.

The students of Sanggar Fortune Nursery School VI in Cilandak Timur were so enthusiastic to participate in the series of activities that day. The event taken place from 08:00 am was preceded by coloring pictures of a goat. Each student got coloring paper and colored pencils. After coloring, every student showed the result.

After that, they learn to feed the sacrificial goats. At first, not many students dared to feed the goats. Slowly, the children, one by one, began to have the courage to feed the sacrificial goats. Accompanied by the teachers, the children were given the opportunity to witness the slaughter of sacrificial animals. It was done to make them understand that the command of Qurban is an obligation that must be performed annually by Muslims who are financially capable.

“Firstly, we thank Fortune for participating in the sharing with the children here. Insha Allah the sacrifice is worthwhile for us. Hopefully the sacrifice also helped teach the nursery students about sincerity and the obligation to share and help others,” said Santi Oktaviani, one of the nursery teachers of Sanggar Fortune Nursery School VI in Cilandak Timur, Jakarta.

After the slaughter, the meat of sacrificial goats was distributed to the students who mostly came from families who were financially incapable. “It will be made into satay at home,” said Mugni, one of the parents of Sanggar Fortune Nursery School VI in Cilandak Timur, Jakarta who accompanied the child to the school.

Besides celebrating Eid-ul-Adha in the nursery school fostered by Fortune, FORU also shared with the surrounding community. A total of 5 goats were slaughtered on Sunday, October 5th, 2014. Performing Qurban in Eid-ul-Adha is FORU’s annual event.

“The Qurban meat will be distributed to Darul Rahman orphanage, Masjid Al-Falah, neighborhood units (RT) around the office, and non-staff Fortuners,” said undagi Rusdhy, General Affairs Manager of Fortune Indonesia.

These sacrificial goats from Fortuners who became the sohibul qurban (contributors to sacrificial animals) had been sorted first by the management. A total of five Fortuners were appointed to sacrifice this year. Undagi hoped the number of sacrificial goats would increase next year. “So we will sort out Fortuners who have not sacrificed for the last few years,” he said.
