FORU's donation for Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI)
YKAKI is not just a halfway house for children with cancer in Jakarta. This two-story building serves as a house as well as a school of hope for them. The learning activities are interspersed with games amid their treatment schedule to the hospital.
To continue building hopes of the children to recover from cancer, Fortune Indonesia gave donations to YKAKI as much as Rp1 million. Fortune Indonesia donation was handed over by Arafat as a partner of Fortune Indonesia.
“There they keep getting encouragement from the staffs who understand the feelings of people with cancer. Donation from Fortune was submitted directly to the finance staff,” said Arafat.
Before presenting the donation, Arafat had a talk with two YKAKI staffs, Endah Carolina as administrative staff and Ningrum as financial staff. The conversation was not only about the history and purpose of YKAKI establishment, but also about the operational and the ups and downs dealing with the children with cancer. Some stories of children with cancer were told in the conversation.
YKAKI staffs invited Arafat to look around the house. The foundation which is located at Jalan Percetakan Negara IX NO 10A has several bedrooms, study room, playroom, laundry room, dining room and kitchen. There is also a mini stage for a variety of children’s activities.
“They have got lots of donations of toys. They seem to be more in need of cash assistance and also books for kids,” said Arafat.
At the end of the visit, Arafat symbolically handed over the aid to Ningrum of YKAKI. Hopefully, the donation from Fortune Indonesia can be beneficial for children in YKAKI. “Thank you for the donation. We will use it for the needs of the children here,” said Ningrum.
