Monster Lemper to SpongeBot Became the Symbol of Spirit of Fortune Group

Twitter Based, Kickoff 2013 Cocked the Spirit of People
As though it had fallen along with the raindrops, the green-moustached figure appeared all of a sudden at the lobby of Fortune Group office in Galaktika Building. His waist was entwined with banana leaves, as well as both his arms and shoulders alike. The hat he wore on was also made of banana leaf. He shouted loudly like a possessed man. With his sword, he beat a number of people (Fortune Group employees) who directly screamed hysterically. Even some of them could not stand to cry.
Yet, no need to panic. The scene above was not a crime story, but a snippet of the drama being played by a group of people to enliven the event entitled Kick Off 2013, on January 9, 2013 at the headquarters of Fortune. The ‘miraculous’ figure wrapped in banana leaves was a mascot made by Group F named Monster Lemper.
Only in Kick Off 2013, people who usually groomed neatly or wore casual attire were willing to transform themselves into various weird excited creatures. Besides Monster Lemper, there were some people who wore costumes similar to manga character Danbo, American bandit but rode kuda lumping (toy horse) and danced a la Gangnam Style, eccentric Gatotkaca, to the famous underwater cartoon character SpongeBob whose name was changed into SpongeBot. Hilarious!
As a regular people’s annual event, Kick Off is famous for being never deserted of interest. This year, Kick Off comes up with the theme of “Reload 111” which means spirit cocked and fired once again to achieve the company target that has been mutually agreed. The event attended by about two hundred people began at ten in the morning, with the division of 15 groups containing 16 people chosen at random from the entire units of Fortune.
Each group got the same challenges, namely to track 14 items hidden throughout the office of Fortune with limited clue from the committee. Uniquely, this game is intentionally designed digital-based so the clue and all the information is only distributed via twitter @ FortuneID. Participants were required to send all pictures of the stuffs collected by the team via twitter. This is what makes the Kick Off 2013 different from the ones of previous years. Fun!
Digital-Based Games
As soon as the first tweet containing a clue appeared on the timeline, all participants were suddenly splashy and scampered to all directions. There were some confused participants, some were directly competing goods, the others were having a discussion and tried to get some information from the committee who intentionally looked ‘fierce’ with red dress code. Moreover, the hideouts were indeed weird: from bathroom, storeroom, motorcycle parking space, to the room of Board of Directors! But, they are tricky. There was a participant who even deliberately took two items to be bartered with goods from the other groups! Being nosy and creative are sometimes indeed slightly different.
Having completed with treasure hunt games and lunch, the people were guided via twitter for designing team mascot and trinkets from the goods which were successfully collected. Each team was also required to create a jingle to be recorded in the video. This session ran no less exciting. Though not a client request, it turned out all participants remained serious and enthusiastic to work with banana leaves, cardboard, broom sticks, colorful paper, straw, to hair clips so that they could win as a champion in Kick Off 2013!
Peak of the Event
Kick Off 2013 was closed at Rolling Stone Cafe, covering meal for all the people, watching team’s jingle videos together, until the announcement of the winners. Group F was chosen as the team with the best costumes, while Group A won as the team with the best jingle. The favorite team was won by Group C, while the Best of the Best Team was won by Group H. All winning teams are entitled to get cash for a total of 10 million rupiah. A special appreciation worth a total of 45 million rupiah is also given to a number of employees who are considered to contribute to the creativity in Fortune.
In his written message that night, Indra Abidin as the President reminded the employees to unite in order to achieve the target determination in 2013. “Fortune must remain standing as long as 100 years in the future to be able to play a role in the development of human life quality improvement no matter where we are,” says Indra as read by Director of PT Fortune Indonesia Tbk Muljadi Sulaeman.
Therefore, the three powers that must be united by the employees are the idea that exceeds expectation, the technology that exceeds the possibilities, as well entrepreneurship that is beyond hope. “Thus, every employee should have the point of view that difficulty is the opportunity to progress and every moment is an opportunity to achieve that goal,” he continued. Indra also delivered, all employees need to have nine guidelines that become the cornerstone of their professional attitude, i.e. to have high initiative without waiting for orders, a plan that was to be held, the team-work spirit, good argument principles, integrity, also become the granary of ideas and audiences offering solution. In addition, the true Fortuners are willing to lead the foremost position and like the challenge.
Kick off 2013 really left an impression in the hearts of the people. It was even more for Anggie Ferdika Sari Sukardi, the receptionist of Galaktika Building. Everyday sitting in front of a computer, it was the first time she had to run around the office. “Really fun, pretty tired and sweaty of having to run fast to search for the stuffs. It turned out that there were many rooms in the office that I had not known yet. From this event, I become more familiar with our own building, “she said.
Citra Ramadhani of brand team digital Fortune DId (Digital Identity) also revealed a sense of joy. “Really tired of laughing! All participants expressed their craziness. Even though it was only held in the office, everybody was willing to blend. The seniors, the young, the old employees, the new employees mingled all together in this event, “said Citra who had served as chairperson of the Kick Off committee for three years.”The most important in Kick Off is that we must be completely ‘out’ from work to get fresh again to face the next target. Hopefully everybody can reload as new person in 2013, “she said.
Although tired, the organizers had incredible enthusiasm. “Although the preparation was too short because it was truncated by the moment of Christmas and new year, plus the busyness of each committee, thanks heaven that the response of the employees was very encouraging. People in one building were so active, the organizers really did not expect that the employees were willing to run here and there following the rules we made, “said Harsya Joedadi, associate HCD Manager as well as the chairman of the committee. “The confused participants turned out to be quite exciting spice, because they should think what strategy to use. Hopefully the goal of Kick Off 2013 to pump up the spirit at the end of the year after reaching the target can be met, “she closed.
