Let’s dance Salsa (Again) with Fortune Aerobics!
Vacuum due to Lacking of Members
Who says that sports community of the Fortuners (Fortune Group employees) is dominated only by men? So far, Fortuners (Fortune Group employees) are more familiar with internal sport clubs that are considered masculine, such as Kosaltun (Fortune Futsal Community), Kobatun (Fortune Basketball Community), and PB Fortune (Fortune Badminton Association). Many of them are not well-informed that Fortuners have a sport club for women. It is called Aerotun, alias Fortune Aerobic Community.
Formed in early 2012, this club is open to accommodate female Fortuners who are less fond of sports that are dominated by men. The exercise is done regularly on Wednesdays at 5 pm, on the first floor of the office on Jabir St. guided by a competent instructor and participated by about 15-20 Fortuners. Even more exciting, in Aerotun, members can do not only aerobic movements but also hip hop and salsa!
“When exercising, we do not do mere aerobics. But half of the session will also be interspersed with hip hop or salsa dance moves, it is up to what we want. So we won’t be bored, “explained Senior HCD Specialist Ayu Ungsi who is also one of Aerotun promoters.
Unfortunately, the club was starting to ‘freeze’ since August 2012 due to the constraint on the number of members. Popularity of Aerotun also grew dimmer. “As often happens in other clubs, the many participants who were active at the beginning, started to get more occupied with work, so they were often absent, while the minimum number of participants in one time exercise in Aerotun is 15 people,” said Ayu.
Unlike the other Fortuners’ internal sport clubs, Aerotun does not have to rent a sport hall so that the time to exercise is unlimited. Therefore, Ayu hopes the club will be active again and participated by more Fortuners from more divisions. “Hopefully, more Fortuners will come to exercise, not only those from Fortune Indonesia or support team but also from Fortune PR that has many female Fortuners,” said Ayu. “Recently, we do have a plan to exercise together again. Yet, we have no idea as of the right time because we have to gather the members,” closed Ayu.
Senior Account Executive of Any-U Fortune Indonesia Madra Maharani added, “Aerotun can exist and will be reactivated provided that the participating Fortuners have stronger commitment for this sport activity, and must be aware to provide the time to exercise amidst the tight job schedule. It is crucial so that there will be a balance between the completed job and healthy body. As long as there is no such commitment and awareness then Aerotun cannot be reactivated. So, let’s think!” ended Madra.
Innovation and Business Development Officer of Fortune Indonesia Rika Hapsari Kuncoro, one of Aerotun members, expressed similar enthusiasm toward Aerotun. “It is fun to exercise together. We become fresher in doing our job. So far, the exercises are held among Fortuners only. Although there was an offer to join a competition, we were not interested yet because we exercise merely for fun. It will be better if there is somebody who can activate the club to exercise together and collaborate with other agencies once in a while, “explained Rika.
